Leaks are the most common thing we find, and they show up early to anyone who looks. Oil film on the underbody, dried coolant crusted at a hose clamp, a coolant level that drops between visits — that is the stage where a hose or a housing is still a small job. Plastic coolant fittings and thermostat housings turn brittle with heat cycles, while turbo oil lines and cam cover seals seep with age. We pressure test. Then you get photos of what we found and a straight answer on whether it can wait.

The automatic behind these engines is a ZF eight-speed, and it wants fluid and filter service on an actual interval. Lifetime fluid isn’t a thing. The oil in that transmission carries heat, clutch material, and metal, and once shift quality turns lazy or the car thumps into gear at low speed, you are past maintenance and into repair. We handle transmission repair and fluid service before it gets there. On the Levante and all-wheel-drive Ghibli, there’s a transfer case and differentials with fluid of their own, and skipping those is how a smooth driveline starts to shudder in tight turns. We test before we replace. A Levante that sits low overnight, rides harsh, or throws a suspension fault is usually telling you about a leaking air strut or a compressor working overtime to cover for one. Brakes go the same way. A Ghibli or Quattroporte is heavy and fast enough that rotors wear out with the pads, and fresh pads on grooved rotors buy you noise and a long pedal. Steering and suspension work matters too. Worn control arm bushings make one of these cars wander at highway speed, and a Levante that tramlines on Route 6 has usually had them a while. Electronics are their own category. A screen that reboots, windows that forget their memory, a battery flat every Monday morning. Nine times out of ten that’s a module refusing to sleep or a corroded ground, and a parasitic draw test is the only honest way to name it.
