First time customer for Protech and am likely to revisit in the future. Anthony Cafarelli was the technician that worked on my vehicle and he did an amazing job taking care of me! The staff catered to my time constraint and I was in and out in less than an hour. Lobby has a modern/chill vibe to it, similar to an upscale dealership. Overall, would definitely recommend!

Thank you for the kind words Wilmer! We are lucky to have Anthony, he is a top notch technician.

This place is awesome. Everyone that works here is super honest and friendly. I have been taking my car here for years and they have never tried taking advantage of me at all. They are always super quick to get me an appointment when I need it and pricing is always fair. Also the facility itself is immaculate...you can tell they take pride in what they do. Highly recommend going here!

Ashley, Thank you so much for trusting us with your car! We appreciate your business and your awesome review.

original 1 star, updated to 5. I came here based on good reviews. The service I went for was to have new wheels put on with my current tires (new wheels are same size as stock wheels). So a basic unmounting/mounting. Same work/labor as having summer tires switched over to snow tires and vice versa. Most shops charge $70-$90 for this. Protech charged me $150 which is totally unheard of. I was thinking "okay, whatever, ill just never come back". I was not thinking of getting on yelp. The reason I got on yelp is this..My car has 17" low profile wheels/tires (stock size). In the past I have had other shops over-inflate my tires which has caused my wheels to easily bend/damage over even small potholes (potholes that normally wouldnt hurt my wheels). So after I paid double what it should have cost me, before walking out I asked Jason if the tires were properly inflated (and explained to him how other shops have over-inflated causing me easily bent rims). He assured me that would never happen at his shop and assured me they are to the proper PSI. Then while I was driving home the car felt stiff. Based on life experience I don't trust anyone 100%, so when I got home I kicked a tire to feel it, and it felt very hard. So I took my gauge out of my trunk and checked (I live 1 mile away on a 30mph road so my tires did not have a chance to get hot and expand, also it is on the chilly side today, roads are not hot). All 4 tires were 5 PSI over the recommendation in the door jam. 5 PSI over the manufacturer's recommendation is A LOT if you are running low profile wheels/tires, which I am. Needless to say I was pissed, not only because I was charged double what any other shop would charge, but if I took Jason's word and didn't check for myself when I got home, my new wheels would be bent in no time with rock hard tires. They were nice and respectful, but super expensive and told me my tires were properly inflated when they were in fact one little pothole away from bending my new wheels. The place is very clean and they had me out of there in about an hour give or take a few minutes (I came straight from work and waited). The staff was also friendly. If Protech cares to rectify my poor experience today, I will be more than happy to update this review to reflect positively on them. I am not out to cause harm to anyone or business. I am just sharing my limited experience with this shop, and currently I regret going to them. Update from 1 star to 5 stars for reaching out to me instantly the following morning and being genuinely mindful of my first experience with them and what caused it to be a negative one. Nick (the manager if I'm not mistaken) called and I could sense he was more upset than I was about my negative first experience and he was looking to fix the relationship, which he succeeded in doing. He took the time to hear me out and understand my feelings/concerns. He also offered a fair resolution. He was very professional about everything and we both understood each other. I am not a perfect human and I do not expect them to be either. What I do expect is when mistakes are made that the responsible party admits fault and takes action to fix it (if it is justified), and this is what happened. I also just noticed I also have a missed call/voicemail from the owner Tony, who was equally as apologetic and wanting to make things right as Nick was. I admire their dedication to customer satisfaction and I would now consider going back to them in the future. They handled this very well. These guys showed me that they really care about customer experience, so if you are justifiably unhappy just speak up and be civil. They will work with you to make sure you aren't just left hanging. Also it turns out that the $150 mounting charge was a mistake. Since they sell tires, this would be the charge had I needed new tires and purchased them elsewhere and brought them in to be mounted (as Tony put it, similar to bringing your own steak to a restaurant and asking them to cook it). But I didn't need new tires. My tires were fine, I just wanted them re-mounted on different wheels. So the correct charge was $100, which is much closer to the $70-$90 range I was expecting. I don't mind that it was 10 dollar above that range because of the professionalism and supporting a local shop (chains suck). Long story short, they made an error and quickly and politely made it right.

Great clean friendly place to take your car. They do not offer rentals which sucks but a good dealer alternative.

Great service, accommodating for schedules, and a comfortable waiting area make bringing a car in for service which lets face it, is not a favorite past time, a pleasant experience.

I called to get a quote for replacing the half-shafts on a car. The service advisor wasn't even able to give me a quote based on parts and labor which shouldn't have taken him more than 30 seconds to do. He also stated they'd have to take things like rust into account. I told them that there wasn't any rust as the car was well taken care of, but they still said they didn't want to get involved with it LOL. Then I called them to get a quote for replacing a couple of radiator hoses and they weren't sure about replacing them either. I had both the half-shafts and radiator hoses replaced by Nissan. They were able to get me a quote for both jobs within seconds. The half shafts came out no problem, they just needed to be re-greased. Still used the original boots for them as they were in good condition. I bought all the radiator hoses myself and Nissan put them in without taking a lot of time. I don't even know why Protech is in the automotive business. It doesn't seem like the right fit for them if they can't give you a quote or are afraid to work on cars. MY RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS RESPONSE: I never declined to bring my car in for service. That is a lie. Your service advisor failed to give me a quote over the phone which Nissan did right away. Your service advisor was concerned about rust issues with the half-shafts even when after I told him that there was no rust. I had been under the car and inspected them myself. The owner knows more about their car then the service shop. Any professional business will tell you that. Basically, I didn't feel confident that you could do the repair well. There was no reason to bring it in if you couldn't simply give me a quote over the phone like everyone else. It was a simple repair and Nissan re-greased the half-shafts. They didn't give me any hassle about having to look at the car first. I gave you folks a second chance when I called about replacing the hoses. Your service advisor made it very clear they Protech wasn't interested in servicing the hoses. It was 3 hoses. I ordered them myself. Nissan put them in no problem. Notice in the owner's reply he didn't mention anything about the radiator hoses. Of course I have high expectations when having my car service by a business that prides themselves on their technology and training. Who wouldn't? However, in my experience many people in the auto industry. are frauds and deceitful. Maybe I would have changed my review to a 3 instead of a 1. But now that you lied on top of everything else, I'll just keep it a 1. My reviews are based on my conversations and the experience I had with the business. If they do a good job, I leave a good review. If they don't provide satisfactory answers or service, I leave negative feedback. That's fair and nothing less than you deserve. You're also based in Johnston and that speaks for itself. I am glad I never took my car to Protech. I saved myself a big headache. Whether the car is 5 years old or 35 years old shouldn't make any difference if you service thousands of cars all years, makes and models. Nobody else said anything about it when I called for a quote. That's a bunch of malarkey.

We always value constructive feedback from our customers, and will always continue to better ourselves. We feel that this is an extremely unfair review for many, many reasons. 1. The quote you requested was on November 21st, 2016. It is unfair to bring this up almost 3 years later. 2. As we told you, we don't quote repair jobs over the phone. Why? very simply, we want to take the necessary time to provide an accurate estimate so there are no surprises, and this absolutely takes longer than 30 seconds. We offered to evaluate your repair needs in person at our shop and provide you with a written estimate. This is to ensure your vehicle actually needs what you are saying it needs (which as you stated, the axles ended up not needing to be replaced, so this would have been a waste of time for us to write an estimate for this without even seeing the car in our shop). We DID however provide you with an estimate on the labor, but as we told you the axles were not available from any of our local suppliers and it would take some time to track down the correct axle shafts. Your car is 35 years old, and we have never serviced it before. It is perfectly reasonable for us to want to see what we are getting into before spending the time to provide an estimate. 3. We aren't afraid to work on cars at all, in fact, we've serviced tens of thousands of cars and trucks with the highest quality service and repairs since April 2010. 4. Your expectations are unreasonable. We provide the highest level of service and repairs, using the latest technology and highly trained technicians to do so. We direct our focus and training to service cars, vans, and trucks of almost any make and model of the last 15-20 years -- but as we discussed with you, your vehicle is 35 years old, and we typically don't work on classic/antique vehicles. 5. You have never actually had any service or repair work done at our shop, and you declined to bring your car in for a free estimate/evaluation. You then wrote a 1-star review for us simply because we would not go against our policy and provide you a blind estimate for repairs on a 35 year old vehicle. After looking at your other reviews of repair facilities, it seems that you are a tough person to please, and we are probably very lucky that you didn't bring your car in for service.
